Locally, South, North, McKay with opening wins
After the first week of the 2023 Oregon prep football season, one thing is certain: not all the so-called top contenders are the guaranteed—and at the same time, one game doesn’t determine a season.
In Salem-Keizer, top teams North Salem and South Salem did win as expected, but 5A McKay overturned the apple cart with an upset road win at favored Lebanon in Mid Willamette Conference action.
Here now are the results from week one—first in Special District One (6A) games, and then for McKay in the hyper-competitive Mid Willamette Conference.
