Undisputed Special District One football champion Sheldon nabbed the bulk of the top honors, while Grants Pass Head Coach Brad Page was named Coach of the Year in All-District honors released Tuesday for the 2022 season.
Sheldon—one of Oregon’s top three 6A teams—had Irish quarterback Brock Thomas named as Offensive Player of the Year, while teammate Teitum Tuioti was selected as Defensive Player of the Year.
Salem-Keizer Schools were not shut out of the prime all-district awards—in a season where teams from Salem and Medford battled fiercely during the regular season.
South Salem quarterback Daschel Smith—who threw for 2800 yards and 33 TDs—was named to the first team at QB, along with Thomas.
Sprague center Cole Steketee shared first team honors with Sheldon’s Carl Harward.
At wide receiver, South Salem’s Zach Wustigg and Sprague’s Drew Rodriguez were first team selections along with Sheldon’s Cade Welch and South Medford’s Andrew Walker.
North Salem’s Josiah Davis was chosen as a first team running back, joining Sheldon’s Grafton Robinson and North Medford’s Ty Pugliano.
Defensively, South Salem’s Hatimu Letisi was the sole Salem-area player named to the first team out of five total selections.
At Linebacker, Imyas Aguillar of North Salem, Braedy Vogt of South Salem, and West Salem’s Jimmy Lathen were first team picks out of seven total.
In the secondary, South Salem’s Zach Wustigg and Sprague’s Drew Rodriguez were among seven players named to the first team—making them the only Salem-Keizer players that were two-way first teamers.
Winless McNary did receive an all-district selection. Celtics running back Jake Allen was a second team pick.
