Saxons blanked by Kentucky 2-0 in WS Pool Play
South Salem 12U falls to 1-1 with loss; plays again Monday
Jeffersontown Kentucky’s Tighe Brown III limited South Salem to just three hits while striking out five, leading his team to a 2-0 shutout of the Saxons in game two of pool play of the Cal Ripken World Series in Branson, Missouri. Brown’s exploits overshadowed an equally impressive pitching performance from South hurlers Wyatt Timmerman and Sam Mosar, who also limited Kentucky hitters to just three hits.
Kellen Bowman, Jimmy Ordaz, Jr. and Ben Otjen recorded hits for the Saxons in the loss.
Jeffersontown pushed across runs in the fourth and fifth innings to grab the victory and improve their record to 3-0 in pool play. They beat North Dakota on Saturday.
South, which had the day off Saturday, falls to 1-1. They face Greenwich, Connecticut on Monday at 12 noon PT.
