Salem Academy looking for a new football coach
Crusaders lose Jed Leeper—who is returning to his hometown as football coach
Salem Academy is in the market for a new head football coach. The Crusaders are looking for a new gridiron general after Jed Leeper—who directed the team the last four years—announced he was moving back to his hometown in Missouri to coach his alma mater there.
The 44-year old Leeper—who also had coaching stints locally at South Salem, Stayton and Central Linn High Schools—compiled a 12-20 mark with Salem Academy. His team was one of two in Oregon that moved up from a classification from 2A to 3A football this past season—and recorded what the school described as a “promising” record of 4-5 last fall.
Leeper is returning to his hometown of Hermann, Missouri to lead their high school’s football program. He was hired in Missouri in early March, but the news wasn’t shared to the public about his departure from Salem Academy until early April. Leeper shared his thanks to the Salem Academy community, who he said provided him with their “unconditional support and family atmosphere” during his four years on campus.
While thanking Leeper and his family for their hardwork on the Salem Academy campus, school officials say they are immediately beginning the search for his successor. Potential applicants can apply at this web address: https://salemacademy.org/who-we-are/career
