McNary star makes transfer official from Oregon State
Celtic linebacker Junior Walling is headed for Nevada
Former McNary High School standout Junior Walling is headed for Reno to play college football. After entering the transfer portal at Oregon State earlier this spring, Walling announced through family that he will be playing for the University of Nevada Wolfpack.
“Junior made the difficult decision to leave OSU and enter the transfer portal,” said his father, Jason.
“We are extremely proud of the courage he demonstrated in his desire to chase his dream.”
Walling spent two seasons as a redshirt at Oregon State, and never played a snap for the Beavers.
Walling’s transfer to Nevada includes a full ride scholarship with the Mountain West Conference power.
“(We are) excited to see what this next chapter brings for him,” said Jason Walling.
Jason Walling played for Oregon State in 1991 and 1992. Junior was among a deep list of linebackers on the Beaver roster before he decided to move to Nevada in late April.
Jason Walling says his son will report to the Nevada campus on June 13.
