CVC All-League Volleyball Team released
League champ Sprague has six players on first, second team
With the OSAA volleyball playoffs starting on Wednesday, the Central Valley Conference all-league volleyball team was released today. Conference champion Sprague landed a total of six players on the first and second teams.
The Olympians had both the player of the year in Senior outside hitter Sidney Friesen and the coach of the year in Anne Olsen.
All five CVC schools advanced to the state playoffs. Sprague is the #2 seed, just behind perennial power Jesuit. Other CVC seeds in the bracket include South Salem (#8), West Salem (#13), North Salem (#22), and McNary (#23).
Sprague won the conference with a perfect 12-0 record, 25-4 overall. The Olys were followed by South Salem (8-4, 19-8), West Salem (5-7, 12-9), North Salem (3-9, 13-13) and McNary (2-10, 10-4).
Round one of the playoffs Wednesday has CVC teams matched up this way: McNary plays at St. Mary’s Academy of Portland; North Salem travels to Sam Barlow of Gresham; West Salem hosts Ida B/ Wells of Portland; South Salem entertains Sandy; and Sprague is at home against Beaverton.
